We're proud of our
history
Quad City Prosthetics,
Inc. and Prosthetic Orthotic Specialists, Inc. combine to form a comprehensive
area-wide practice serving all of eastern Iowa and the Northern two-thirds of
Illinois outside of the Chicago area. Quad City Prosthetics, Inc. provides four
patient care offices. They're located in Davenport, Iowa and Rock Island, Freeport
and Peru, Illinois. Prosthetic Orthotic Specialists, Inc. provides offices in
Peoria, Normal and Decatur, Illinois.
Since 1976
we've meet the needs of patients throughout our area by providing quality custom
made artificial limbs and braces of all types and levels of sophistication.
Throughout the years, we've worked with the area's most respected health care
professionals. These include physical and occupational therapists, orthopaedic
surgeons, home health service providers, nursing home care providers and so
on.
Artificial limbs
and braces
Our
practitioners work diligently with each patient and referring health care
professional to meet specific objectives which are both therapeutic and cost
appropriate. We listen carefully to our patients and do our best to provide
an artificial limb (prosthesis) or brace (orthosis) that closely matches each
person's needs and expectations. We are strong believers in customer satisfaction!
What's a "prosthesis"?
A prosthesis
is an artificial part of the body that is custom made and used in place of the
part that has been lost. The wish of every amputee is to receive a new limb that
will be comfortable, restore normal function, and have an acceptable appearance.
Each patient requires a unique combination of fitting, functioning and cosmetic
results. Our practitioners are experienced in a wide range of product choices
which can match individual fit, function and cosmetic requirements.
What about "orthosis"?
An orthosis
is a device used to support a weakened, unstable, injured or overloaded part of
the body. There are orthoses for the back, the arm and shoulder, the lower limb,
the neck and so on. Many types are produced just for the foot. Even a small custom
made shoe insert which appears simple to the eye is the end result of a process
of carefully matching a product to the specific needs of the recipient. We fabricate
custom orthoses which are anatomically matched to each patient. Each custom made
or custom fitted orthosis is prepared following a prescription by a physician.
We also
build relationships
Above all,
we attend to the specific needs and expectations of each of our patients. We focus
not only on providing our patients with appropriate products, but also on building
lasting and caring relationships with each of them. We listen to our patients
and work with them to achieve realistic objectives. We get to know their unique
life situations and are there when they need us as the years go by.
We are unique
in many ways.
With practitioner
offices located throughout our service area, convenient access is afforded to
all of our patients. We are the area's only prosthetics and orthotics provider
serving virtually all of north-central and northwest Illinois along with eastern
Iowa. We also recognize special circumstances and provide on-site visits to our
patients' own homes as well as to special care facilities.
We encourage
active amputee support groups in a number of locations throughout our area.
We are directly involved as on-going providers for the Easter Seals and Cerebral
Palsy Clinics in Peoria and the University of Illinois sponsored DSCC Children's
Clinics. Our staff includes members who are VA certified.
Our practitioners
conduct educational forums for both patients and referring health care professionals
alike. We also provide training experiences for area college students who are
preparing for careers in professions which involve prosthetic and orthotic recipients.
Our Rock Island facility is also home of the Quad City Prosthetic Orthotic Institute,
an accredited orthotics and prosthetics residency program.
Our Commitment
To Our Patients
We realize
that many of our patients depend on our products and services over a long period
of time. As we have grown over the years, we have also maintained long-term relationships
with patients who have been with us from the beginning. Our commitment is to be
there for them and to view each of them as unique and special as they continue
to choose us as their provider.
We are readily
available
To schedule
an appointment with a practitioner, call any one of our facilities between 9 a.m.
and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. In order to serve our patients appropriately
and efficiently, we encourage appointments for all visits requiring consultations
with our practitioners, fittings, repairs and so on. We're also available on an
emergency call basis on evenings and weekends.
Charges, Billing and
Insurance
We
charge according to a fee schedule which is based fundamentally upon Medicare's
reimbursement allowances. We're a Medicare provider and are contracted as
a preferred provider with a many of the area's leading managed care organizations.
Since we routinely bill insurance directly, we can assist our clients with
the claim and reimbursement process.
Certification
Our practitioners
are certified or board eligible for certification by the American Board for Certification
in Orthotics and Prosthetics, Inc. or by the Board of Orthotist Certification.
Employment Opportunities
Are you
ABC certified or Board eligible in orthotics and/or prosthetics? Are you interested
in being associated with an area-wide, family owned O&P practice in the
Midwest? If the answers to these questions are "yes", we'd like to
meet you.
Out practitioners
enjoy the benefits of working with a progressive, ABC accredited practice covering
eastern Iowa and the northern two thirds of Illinois. We're family owned and
not a large multi-national corporation. We currently provide seven patient care
facilities. These are located in Davenport, Iowa and in the Illinois at Rock Island,
Peru, Dixon, Peoria, Normal and Decatur.
Mission Statement
Our mission is simple -- to
provide each patient with the most economical, functional and cosmetically appropriate
product, focusing closely on specific needs and expectations, with the result
being a professional caring relationship and a satisfied patient.
